Hebrews 4:12 Bible Study
12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
You’ve heard this before that the word is sharper than any two edged sword.
You know what I realized is it’s not calling the word a sword here.
It’s not saying it’s better than a sword, it’s sharper than a sword, you see fishermen, who followed Jesus back then, had a knife so sharp that you can slice anything.
On party boats when they fillet the fish this knife is so much sharper
than a double edge dagger that they have a way to cut into the fishes ligaments and to cut out the bones that goes so deep.
That’s what he’s talking about here in Hebrews, you see it’s not called the sword.
How much better and sharper that it even penetrates, as far as our division of the soul and the Spirit, you see, the Word of God helps you, and it does so with your flesh separating it from your spirit.
Man of God, it divides your mind, will, and emotions that have an amazing ability to lie to us and deceive us, and allows us to live in delusion from what is real truth.
