Kinsman: Part 3

Men’s Pastor Scott Caesar’s focus for this third episode of Kinsman is on the significance of encouraging and strengthening one another within the context of faith and community. The discussion centers around the ancient Hebrew warrior phrase “Rok Chazak,” which means “be strong and be courageous.” Pastor Scott emphasizes that just as in the ancient times, individuals need courage and encouragement from each other today – which is how a kinsman should act. He shares the story of Roger Bannister breaking the four-minute mile in 1954, highlighting how one person’s success can give others the permission and motivation to achieve what was once considered impossible.

The session underscores the idea that as kinsman brothers in faith, it is crucial to support and empower one another. The concept of “Bodacious Brotherhood” is introduced, emphasizing the need for men to strengthen each other in the Lord. Encouragement is seen as a way to grant permission to one another to pursue their full potential and purpose in life, just as Roger Bannister’s feat gave permission for others to break the four-minute mile. The encouragement of being a kinsman comes from a place of love and faith, allowing individuals to overcome self-doubt and negative beliefs to realize their God-given potential.

Pastor Scott concludes with a call to action for men to be encouragers and to bring others alongside them. It emphasizes that God is the ultimate kinsman encourager and that by supporting one another, men can activate God’s power within themselves to overcome challenges and inspire change. The episode also includes a powerful testimony of how the power of encouragement saved a man’s life, reinforcing the idea that encouragement can have a profound impact not just on one’s faith but also on their life’s journey.
